the time period from 1206-1290 is called the slave dynasty as it was started by a trusted slave of sultan muhammed of Ghur. When , he had to leave India on a conquest misssion , he trusted his slave , Aybak to remain in charge. The latter took advantage of this , and using his wit and might , he re-established his own empire , which we all now know as "slave dynasty".

Answer:The ilbari dynasty is also called as 'the slave', 'the early turk','the mameluq' and 'the ilbari' because out of the nine rulers of this dynasty only three Qutubuddin Aibak, Iltutmish and Balban – had been slaves during their early life.
