Answer:

By ratio of  7:8 in A:B

A gets 1610

B gets 1840

Deduct 3.5 from each salary

the left over is 3443

By the ratio of 5:6

A gets 1565

B get 1878

Answer:

Rs.460 must be subtracted from their salaries to bring them to a ratio of 5 : 6.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the Salary of A be 7x and salary of B be 8x.

Now, according to the Question,

7x + 8x = 3450

Solving for x,

15x = 3450

x = 3450/15

x = 230

Hence,

A's salary = 7(230) = Rs.1610

B's salary = 8(230) = Rs.1840

Now,

For the reduction, their salaries must be in the ratio 5 : 6, and equal amounts must be taken away,

So,

Let Rs.y be taken away,

Then,

A's salary = 1610 - y

B's salary = 1840 - y

And their ratio must be 5 : 6

So,

(1610 - y) : (1840 - y) :: 5 : 6

We know that,

Product of extremes = Product of means

6 × (1610 - y) = 5 × (1840 - y)

6(1610 - y) = 5(1840 - y)

9660 - 6y = 9200 - 5y

9660 - 9200 = 6y - 5y

y = 460

Hence,

Rs.460 must be subtracted from their salaries to bring them to a ratio of 5 : 6.

Hope it helped and believing you understood it........All the best
