• Let the old salary be ₹ $x$ .
• After the increase, the salary will become $x$×$\frac{30}{100}$ + $x$
•   = $x$ × ( 0.3 + 1 ) = $1.3 x$
• Let the percentage required to decrease the new salary to get the old salary be y ,
• ⇒ $1.3x$ - ( $\frac{y}{100}$ × $1.3x$ ) = $x$

• ⇒  $0.3x$ = $\frac{y}{100}$ × $1.3x$

• ⇒ $y$ = 23.0769
• Therefore the new salary should be decreased by 23.0769 per cent to get the initial salary.
