The salary of a doctor is increased by 40 %. By what per cent should the new salary be reduced in order to restore the original salary?​

Answer:

let the initial salary of the doctor be 100

according to the question , his salary increased by 40 %

i.e 40% of 100+100 =140

inorder to get his original salary (100)back we have to subtract 40 from 140

so percent should the new salary be reduced in order to restore the original salary is 40/140×100

i.e = 28.57% (approx)
