the salary of a worker is first decreased by 15% and then increased by 5%. What is the percentage effect on his salary?​

Assume that the initial salary  be 100 Rs.

after it has been decreased 15%,

the salary = 100 - (15/100 * 100 ) = 100-15 = 85 Rs

then increment of 5% of the resultant salary,

=> salary = 85 + (85 * 5/100) = 85 + (425/100) = 85+4.25 = 89.25 Rs.

so comparing to the initial salary , the salary after the decrement & increment is low,

hence the resultant salary is decreased by (100-89.25) = 10.75Rs

so the decrement % is 10.75% or 10\frac{3}{4} %
