Let the original salary be ₹ 100 .

Hence,

Increment percentage = 25 %

Increment = 25 % of 100
Increment = 25 / 100 * 100
Increment = ₹ 25

New salary = ₹ 100 + ₹ 25
New salary = ₹ 125

Decrease required in salary to restore original salary = ₹ 125 - ₹ 100 = ₹ 25

Decrease percentage = 25 / 125 * 100
Decrease percentage = 1 / 5 * 100
Decrease percentage = 20 %

Hence,

The new salary must be decreased by 20 % to restore original salary.

Here is your solution

Let,

The original salary be ₹ 100 .

A/q

Increment percentage = 25 %(given)

Increment = 25 % of 100

Increment = 25 / 100×100

Hence

Increment cost = ₹ 25

New salary = ₹ 100 + ₹ 25= ₹125

Again

Decrease required in salary to restore original salary

= ₹ 125 - ₹100

= ₹ 25

Decrease percentage = 25 / 125 ×100 =20%

Now

The new salary after decreased by 20 % to restore original salary.

Hope it helps you
