The salary of Ravi and Sumit are in ratio 2:3 if the salary of Sumit and Ravi increases by 4000 and new ratio became 40 : 57, what is the salary of sumit ?
- The salary of Ravi and Sumit are in ratio 2:3
- if the salary of Sumit and Ravi increases by 4000 and new ratio became 40 : 57
- Salary of sumit .
Let,
- Salary of sumit = x
- Salary of Ravi = y
A/c to question ,
( The salary of Ravi and Sumit are in ratio 2:3 )
➠ y : x = 2 : 3
➠ y/x = 2/3
➠ 2x - 3y = 0 .........(1)
Again,
( if the salary of Ravi and sumit increases by 4000 and new ratio became 40 : 57 )
➠ (y + 4000) : (x + 4000) = 40 : 57
➠ (y + 4000) / (x + 4000) = 40 / 57
➠ 57(y + 4000) = 40(x + 4000)
➠ 57y - 40x = 1,60,000 - 2,28,000
➠ 40x - 57y = 68,000 ......(2)
Multiply by 40 in equ(1) and 2 in equ(2)
- 80x - 12y = 0
- 80x - 228y = 68,000
__________Sub. its
➠ 216y = - 68,000
➠ y = - 68,000/216
➠ y = - 68,000/216
Keep value of y in equ (1)
➠ 2x - 3 × { -68,000/216} = 0
➠2x = -68,000/72
➠ x = -68,000/(72×2)
➠ x = - 34,000/72
But, we know salary always be in positive
So, neglect negative sign
- New, value of x will be = 34,000/72
- Value of y will be = 68,000/216
Thus:-
➠ Salary of Ravi = 68,000/216
➠ Salary of sumit = 34,000/72
( The salary of Ravi and Sumit are in ratio 2:3 )
➠ y : x = 2 : 3
Keep value of x and y
➠ [ 68,000/216] : [ 34,000/72] = 2 : 3
➠ [ 68,000/216] × [ 72/34,000] = 2/:3
➠ ( 68/216)× (72/34) = 2:3
➠ (2/216) × 72 = 2:3
➠ (1/108) × 72= 2:3
➠ 36/54 = 2 : 3
➠ 2/3 = 2:3
➠ 2 : 3 = 2 : 3
