Answer:

orignal sales at: a = 100

                           b = 175

Step-by-step explanation:

let the sale of a be x and b be y

so, x/y = 4/7

⇒ x = 4y/7            (1)

and  (y+8y/100)- ( x + 10x/100)= 79

    ⇒108y/100 - 110x/100 = 79

    ⇒108y - 110x = 7900       (2)

on substituting the values

    ⇒108y - 110(4y/7)   = 7900

    ⇒108 y- 440y/7   = 7900

    ⇒ (756y - 440y)/7 = 7900

    ⇒316y = 55300

      ⇒ y = 175

now , x/y = 4/7

       ⇒ x/175 = 4/7

       ⇒x = 4 × 175/7

       ⇒x = 100
