solution

let x be the marked price

we know

marked price (Mp)= selling price+discount %of Mp

or,x=176+20%of x

or,x=176+0.2x ( 20%of x using calculator

or,x-0.2x=176

or0.8x=176

or,x=176÷0.8

:.x=220

The marked price is Rs 220

Answer:

Let the marked price be x.

Atq,

(MP)-(discount)= SP

  = >  x - 20\% \: of \: x = 176

 =  > x -  \frac{20}{100}  \times x = 176

 =  > x -  \frac{x}{5}  = 176

 =  >  \frac{5x - x}{5}  = 176

 =  > 4x = 176 \times 5

 =  > x =  \frac{176 \times 5}{4}

 =  > x = 44 \times 5

 =  > x = 220

Hence,marked price = Rs 220
