A sales person is asked to finalize a deal with customer. The marketing manager allows him to give a discount of upto 10% but the Finance Manager allows him to give discount upto 25%. Which principle is violated here?

Solution

The principle of Unity of Command is violated in this case. The principle states that a worker should take orders from only one manager and should be answerable to him only. In this case the salesman is getting two different orders from two managers which makes him confused and does not allow him to come to a decision.
