Solution :-

Rate of tax = 14 % and amount of sales tax = Rs. 5880

Let the cost price be Rs. x

Then, according to the question.

⇒ (x*14)/100 = 5880

⇒ 14x = 5880*100

⇒ x = 588000/14

⇒ x = 42000

So, the cost price the article is Rs. 42000

Now, if the sales tax is reduced by 3 % then the rate of tax will be 11 %

Amount of sales tax @ 11 % = (42000*11)/100

= Rs. 4620

So, the amount of sales tax will be Rs. 4620 if the rate of tax is 11 %
