The salinity of water increases with depth because denser water stays below light water. And density of water increases when salt is dissolved in it. So this shows that the water at some depth has more salt than the water above it.

Not always increse with depth ...there is a zone called haolic where salinity increses sharply ..and then salinity starts decreasing..
