the sarpanch of a village was elected by a vote of 3 to 1 .if 5764 votes were cast ,how many votes did he received

so =5764/3
=1588
is the answer ,is the number of votes he received...

Let the common multiple be x.
The sarpanch must have received 3x votes because he won.
3x + x = 5764
4x = 5764
x = 1441
3x = 3 × 1441 = 4323
Therefore he received 4323 votes.
