Sutaji replied: In the Shvetavaraha Kalpa, in the 3rd day of the Brahma’s varsha, after the start of the 7th Muhurtha, Maharaja (1) Vaivashvata Manu was born. He did penance for 100 divine years (36,000 Human years) near the Sarayu river. From his sneeze was born his son (2) King Ishvaku. King Ishvaku attained the divine knowledge through the blessings of Lord Brahma. King Ishvaku was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. Only with his blessings he ruled for 36,000 years (Human years).
King Ishvaku’s son was (3) Vikukshi. He ruled for 100 years lesser than King Ishvaku i.e., 35,900 years, whereafter he returned to the heaven. His son was (4) Ripunjaya, who ruled for 100 years lesser than his father i.e., 35,800 years. His son was (5) Kakutstha who ruled for 35,700 years. His son was (6) Anena who ruled for 35,600 years. The son of Anena became famous with the name (7) Prthu, who ruled for 35,500 years.
King Prthu’s son was (8) Vishvagashva, who ruled for 35,400 years. Then the dynasty continues in this manner. (9) Adri — 35,300 years, (10) Bhadrashva — 35,200, (11) Yuvanashva — 35,100, (12) Shravasta — 35,000 years, who established Sravasti named city — At that time, in Bharatavarsha, the Dharma existed with its full 4 foot i.e., Tapa (penance), Saucha (cleanliness), Daya (kindness), and Satya (Truth). During this time, from the eastern to western horizon, the Ishvaku Dynasty ruled with Niti (good governance) and Dharma (righteousness).
