The dot product of two vectors of magnitudes 4 units and 5 units is 10 units in magnitude .

Hence we get the resultant of two vectors as R=√A2+B2+2ABcosθ. But this is only the magnitude. Now, magnitude is maximum of cosθ is maximum = 1. Thus magnitude is maximum if the vectors are in the same direction.
