• The scale of a floor plan is 1:250

To find.

• the dimensions of a room which measures 2 cm by 1.5 cm on the plan.

Solution.

$actual \: length \: of \: floor \: = 2 \times \: \\ \: \: \: 250cm$

$= 500cm$

$1cm \: = 250cm \\ therefore \: 2cm \: = 500cm$

$breadth \: = 1.5 \times 250cm$

$= 375cm$

$so \: 1.5cm \: = 375m$

$\implies\:the \: dimension \: of \: room \: is \: 500cm \: by \: 375m$
