Given,

The scale of the map is 2 cm = 1 km

To find,

The actual distance which is 14 cm distance of the map.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Here, are just need to apply normal arithmetic method.

2 cm on map is = 1 km in real

1 cm on map is = 1/2 km in real

14 cm on map is = 14/2 = 7 km in real

(This is the conversion between reducing scale to 1:1 scale)

Hence, the actual distance is 7 kilometres.

SOLUTION

GIVEN

  • The scale on a map is 2 cm = 1 km

  • The distance show on the map is 14 cm

TO DETERMINE

The actual distance

EVALUATION

We know that

 \displaystyle \sf{Scale \:  on \:  map  =  \frac{Size  \: on \:  the \:  map}{Actual \:  Size }}

Here it is given that the scale on a map is 2 cm = 1 km

Now the distance show on the map is 14 cm

So the required actual distance

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{1}{2} \times 14 \:  \: km }

= 7 km

FINAL ANSWER

The actual distance = 7 km
