♦ This question is taken from the chapter “The Fun They Had” written by Isaac Asimov which describes two children comparing the schools of their era (in context with the chapter) to the schools of the earlier times.

♦ The school in the story “The Fun They Had” was not lovable to the kids because their school was in their home itself, a mechanical teacher used to teach them at a specific time everyday. The worst thing was doing the homework without anybody’s help and writing the answers in a punch code. Answering and studying seemed to be an boring idea to Margie and Tommy.

♦ In the story, there is no interaction between the students as they were all alone with the mechanical teacher. And we know that children can develop a better understanding of each other when they go to school and interact with others.

♦ In order to make the school lovable, real (human) teachers must be there as listening to the teachers explaining the lessons is more understandable and effective than learning on the screen. Also, if the students have any problems with the homework or the concepts, it is much easier to discuss it with a human teacher than the mechanical teacher.

♦ And if we our self imagine that scene when all the students from the entire neighborhood would gather together, laughing and playing joyously, reaching and studying at the school together. At the end of the day, coming back to home together. This kind of divine beauty of the school would make it lovable by the kids.
