The School of a boy from his home is 1km to the east. When he reaches back home he says that he had travelled 2km distance but his displacement is zero. Justify your answer.

➡️ the displacement can be negative or zero but distance cannot.

here , the boys returns to the starting point therefore the distance is 2km but the displacement is 1km - 1km = 0 km.

therefore, it is zero displacement.

Because displacement can be zero . In a circular ground if we start from a point and move 2km and come back to our initial position then distance covered is 2km but displacement is 0 because displacement is the shortest distance between the initial position and the final position
