Since earth's axis is tilted, one hemisphere is closer to the sun than the other, and hence the difference in seasons.

It means that as you know that there are two hemispheres of the earth namely southern hemisphere and northern hemisphere. As you know, earth rotates and revolves around the sun. So if in the northern hemisphere there is winter solstice then it will be opposite in the southern hemisphere that is that there will be summer solstice in the southern hemisphere. And if there is vernal equinox in the southern hemisphere then it will be opposite in the northern hemisphere. If any doubt please ask..
