The second ionisation energy of sodium is very high as compared to its first ionisation energy .Why?

this is bcz during its first ionisation it's single valence electron is removed whereas in second ionisation it has attained stability so energy released is much higher. also when one moves from one shell to another towards the nucleus energy liberated increases.
