Overall gain on three articles is Rs. 72

Given:

The ratio of the selling price of three articles = 3:4:5

Profit percent ratio = 4:12:5

CP of article C = Rs. 120

To find:

Overall gain on three articles

Solution:

Let the selling price be = x

Therefore, SP pf three articles = 3x, 4x and 5x

Let profit be = y

Therefore, the profit of three articles = 4y, 12y and 5y

Now, since the CP of article C is already given ie. 120,

Let the CP of a and b be = Z

As per the question -

3x = Z + 4y

4x = Z + 12y

5x = 120 + 5y

On solving 1 and 2,

x = 8y

Substituting the value of x in 3.

5 (8y) = 120 + 5y

y = 120/35

y = 24/7

Therefore,

The total profit will be -

= 4y + 12y + 5y

= 21y

= 21 × 24/7 ( Substituting value of y)

= 3 × 24

= 72

Answer: Overall gain on three articles is Rs. 72
