it is metaphor here as laughter cannot be termed as 'music' for humans, but we are comparing it by saying that laughter heals the inner soul and calms our soul like music which calms our mind
2) metaphor: heart of gold
as we know, nobody actually has a heart of gold. but just for the sake of it, we are using 'heart of gold' in this sentence to show that the grandfather is very caring and kind, a 'one in a million' person, just like gold he is also precious.
3) metaphor: apple of my eye
again, no child is actually an apple. but by including 'apple' in this sentence we are saying that the child is very important and precious to the speaker, just like the apple is so important for a hungry man.
4) metaphor: roller coaster
life is actually not a roller coaster, so by including this word in this sentence, we are depicting that life consists of many adventures and events that give us joy, happiness, and sometimes sadness and regret too, just like we experience so many emotions while taking a ride on the roller coaster.
