due to differentiated heart, organisms such as mammals and birds, who require more energy undergo 'double circulation of blood'. This means the oxygenated and deoxygenated blood simultaneously enter the heart and are synthesized without being mixed. Just because oxygenated blood does not mix with deoxygenated blood, body gets proper energy for surviving.
