The sequence of events in the cell culture procedure are as follows:-

  1. Preparation of sterile environmental conditions to prevent the growth of microbes in the cell culture.
  2. Preparing culture media according to the growth requirements of the cells. Agar is generally added as a solidifying agent
  3. Inoculating the mother plant in the medium.
  4. Then this explant is incubated under adequate conditions of temperature.
  5. Callus (i.e. tissue growth) is observed on the medium.
  6. Organogenesis takes place involving dedifferentiation and redifferentiation.
  7. The complete organism of interest has developed from the explant.
