The Serengeti plains are part of the African savanna ecosystem and are home to a variety of different species of plants and animals. The Serengeti plains experience a seven-month period of seasonal drought each year, during which the ecosystem receives only four inches of rain and the availability of some resources becomes very scarce. Which type of limiting factors does the seasonal drought in the Serengeti plains affect?

The limiting factor which affects the Serengeti plains are abiotic factors. Limiting factor is defined as a small or non-negligible change of a system. The limiting factors of ecology include environmental conditions that terminate the growth, abundance or distribution of an organism in an ecosystem. Limiting factors are not limited only to the conditions of the species but they may vary based on the circumstances. Limiting factors also develop competition between the species. Limiting factors are of two types biotic  and abiotic factors.  Biotic facors include food, predators, disease, competition for resources etc.  Abiotic factors include sunlight, chemical environment, weather, temperature etc. Therefore the answer is abiotic factor since Serengeti planes are affected by rain.

The correct answer is abiotic factors.

A limiting factor is a variable of a system that, if subject to a small change, causes a non-negligible change in an output or other measure of the system. A factor not limiting over a certain domain of starting conditions may yet be limiting over another domain of starting conditions, including that of the factor.
