the set up of British rule in India was an accident. the British never came to rule over .Mention the reason which led to British setting up government in India​

Britishers came to India for just trading,but when they saw that we(Indians) are very innocent they thought to take over every independent states of India. They came here as doing trade gradually they started to sign treaties of military and trading alliances. At that time India didn't had government and Mughals ruled us and also India was not United. They started divide and rule policy. partition of Bengal was also the part to divide India. Started the mehalwari system, zamindari system too. Took over military and trading.
