the shadow of a flag post is 18cm and the shadow of a man standing nearby is 2.4 m .if the height of than standing is 1.6 m find the height of the flag post​

The First Right Triangle will be formed by the man, his shadow and the line joining his head to his shadow's tip.

The Second right triangle will be formed the lamp post, IT's shadow and the line joing the lamphead to the shadow tip.

Now, We Need To Prove These Two Triangles To Be Similar.

PROOF:-

Both triangles have a 90° base-height angle.

And, since the man is nearby, the angle of depression in both triangles is also equal.

So by AA criterion, both Triangles are similar.

Therefore, the ratio of their sides is same, i.e

Height of post = Length of lamp shadow

Height of man Length of man's shadow

=> Height of post = 0.18 metres

1.6 metres 2.4 metres

=> Height of post = (0.18×1.6)

2.4

= 0.12 metres
