The plane is meant for flying because of its large (flat)area
and its engine that creates lift and thrust
the bus is meant for driving because it does not have the specialty of a plane(flat area) to have enough thrust and lift

The classic airliner shape is good for moving stuff a long way in a fuel efficient fashion, if you don’t mind people seeing you. Other shapes are better for other things.
