This is due to the drag force. The shape of a bus is sort of cubical, that is, it's surface area is much greater and hence, it will encounter a more considerable amount of dragging force exerted by the air which will inturn make the bus-shaped aeroplane go crash.
On the contrary, the shape of the plane, called the aero-dynamic shape, reduces the area of impact and hence, inturn, reducing the effective drag force which causes the aero-dynamic plane to fly easily.
