The shape of the top surface of a table is a trapesium .find its area if its sides are 1m and 1.2m and perpendicular distance bitween them is 0.8m.

arunadeepak1234: have you given the measures of the parallel sides or non-parallel sides?

For parallel sides of trapezium,
we have, parallel sides=100cm & 120cm respectively
Now, Its height= 80cm
Now, ar(trapezium)= \frac{1}{2}(a+b)h ,
where, a and b are parallel sides, and h is height.
Now, ar(trapezium)= = \frac{1}{2}(100+120)80  \\  =\frac{1}{2}(220)80 \\ = 220X40 \\ =8800c m^{2}=Ans.
Or, 8800cm^2 in m^2= 8800cm^2/10000= 0.88m^2= The actual answer!

Area of trapezium = (1/2)×(sum of parallel sides)×height
parallel sides = 1m and 1.2m
height = 0.8m

Area = (1/2) × (1+1.2) × 0.8 m²
        = (1/2) × 2.2 × 0.8 m²
        = (1/2) × 1.76 m²
        =  0.88 m²
