The shape of the top surface of a table is trapezium.Its parallel sides are 1m and 1.4m and the perpendicular distance between them is 0.9m.Find its area.

Area of trapezium = 1/2(sum of parallel sides) x height 


So,area = 1/2 x (1 + 1.4) x 0.9
= 1/2 x 2.4 x 0.9
= 1.2 x 0.9
= 1.08 sq m
