→The shapes of cars and planes are streamlined . Why ?

=> The shapes of cars and planes are streamlined . This is because when an object moves through air , it experiences frictional force that resists the motion of the body. In such a case , streamlined shape reduces the frictional force and helps in movement .

[ Note - Frictional force is a contact force that comes to play when a Body moves or tends to move over the surface of another body. ]

◆When a body moves through a fluid, its motion is opposed by the force of fluid friction, which increases with the speed of the body. When cars and planes, move through air, their motion is opposed by the air friction, which in turn, depend upon the shape of the body. It is due to this reason that the cars or planes are given such shapes (known as streamlined shapes) so that air friction is minimum. Rather the movement of air layers on the upper and lower side of streamlined shape body provides a lift which helps in increasing the speed of the car.
