The side of a cube is increased from 4 cm to 8 cm. Find the change in its total surface area.

When side is not increased :-

a = 4cm

Total surface area of cube =

6 {a}^{2}

6 ({4})^{2}

6 \times 16

96 {cm}^{2}

When side is increased :-

a = 8cm

Total surface area of cube =

6 {a}^{2}

6( {8})^{2}

6 \times 64

384 {cm}^{2}

Change in total suface area =

384 {cm}^{2}  - 96 {cm}^{2}

 = 288 {cm}^{2}
