The side of a cube is measured by a vernier caliper (10 divisions of a vernier scale coincide with 9 divisions of main scale, where 1 division of main scale is 1mm). The main scale reads 10 mm & first division of vernier scale coincides with the main scale. Mass of the cube is 2.736g.
Find the density of the cube in appropriate significant figures.

A] 2.6 g/cc
B] 2.655 g/cc
C] 2.65 g/cc
D] None of these

Vernier reading=side of the cube

=(10+(1×0.1))mm=10.1mm

now the volume of the cube

=(10.1)^3 mm^3

therefore the density.....

=mass /volume

=2.736/10.1^3. gm/mm^3

=0.0026555 gm/mm^3

=2.655 gm/cm^3

=2.655 gm/cc. [1cm^3=1cc]
