Area of original rectangle is
20 \times 15 = 300 \: {cm}^{2} \\
After increase in dimensions by 20%,
new \:  \: length = 20 \times 1.2 = 24 \: cm \\ new \:  \: breadth = 15 \times 1.2 = 18 \: cm \\  \\ new \:  \: area = 24 \times 18 = 432 \:  {cm}^{2}

Therefore percentage increase in area is
 \frac{432 - 300}{300} \times 100 = 44\% \\

Question :-

The side of a rectangle are 20 cm and 15 cm if each side of the rectangle is increased by 20% find the percent increase in the area..?

Answer :-

→ Percent increase in area is 44% .

To find :-

→ % increase in area .

Explanation :-

Given that ,

side of rectangle are 20cm and 15 cm ,

then area of rectangle before increase,

→ A = 20 × 15

→ A = 300 cm²

after increase sides 20%

• new length is

= 20 + 20% of 20 = 20 +4 = 24 cm

• new breadth is

= 15 + 20% of 15 = 15 + 3 = 18 cm.

New area = 24 × 18 = 432 cm²

Therefore increase area is = 432 - 300

increased area = 132

hence % increase in area =132/300×100

% increase in area = 44% .
