Solution

Area of rhombus → Base × Altitude

Base → 7.2 cm

Altitude → 5 cm

Area of Given Rhombus → 7.2 × 5

Area of Given Rhombus → 36 cm²

∴ The area of the given rhombus is 36 cm²

Additional Information

  • A quadrilateral is a closed polygon with 4 sides.
  • The interior angle of the quadrilateral always sums upto 360°
  • Examples of some common quadrilaterals are → Square, Rectangle, Parallelogram, Kite, Rhombus, Trapezium, etc.
  • Area of Square → (Side)²
  • Area of Rectangle → Length × Breadth
  • Area of Parallelogram → Base × Height
  • Area of Trapezium → \sf \dfrac{( Side_{1} + Side_{2})}{2} \times Height
  • Area of Kite → \sf \dfrac{Diagonal_{1} \times Diagonal_{2}}{2}
  • Area of Rhombus → \sf \dfrac{Diagonal_{1} \times Diagonal_{2}}{2}

It is given that the side of a rhombus is 7.2cm its altitude is 5cm .

Now here , we need to find the area . In order to find area we will put the formula.

Given :

Side of rhombus - 7.2cm

Altitude (height) = 5cm

To find :

Area of rhombus ?

Answer:

By putting formula :

\begin{gathered}\qquad\qquad{\underline{\underline{\frak{\purple{area \: of \: rhombus \:  = base \times height \: \;}}}}}\\ \\\end{gathered}

Substitute the given values in order,

\begin{gathered}\qquad\qquad{\underline{\underline{\frak{\purple{area \: of \: rhombus \: = 7.2 \times 5 \;}}}}}\\ \\\end{gathered}

\begin{gathered}\qquad\qquad{\underline{\underline{\frak{\purple{area \: of \: rhombus = 36 \: sq.cm\;}}}}}\\ \\\end{gathered}

∴ Area of rhombus = 36sq.cm

What is a Quadrilateral?

  • A quadrilateral is a figure which has 4 angles , 4 sides and two diagonals.
  • There are total 10 elements in a quadrilateral.
  • We can even construct any quadrilateral if we want to , but we should know 5 elements out of 10.

Quadrilateral : Rhombus .

Rhombus is a quadrilateral

Rhombus :

  • If all the sides of a quadrilateral are of equal length (Congruent) , it is called a Rhombus .
  • Opposite sides of Rhombus are congruent.
  • Diagonals bisect opposite angles of Rhombus.
  • In rhombus diagonals bisect each other and they are perpendicular to each other.

Some other basic quadrilaterals :

Quadrilateral Square :

Square is a quadrilateral

Square :

  • If all sides and all angles of a quadrilateral are congruent , it is called a square.
  • Diagonals are of equal length. That is they are congruent.
  • Diagonals bisects each other.
  • Diagonals are perpendicular to each other.
  • Diagonals bisects the opposite angles .

Quadrilateral Rectangle:

Rectangle is a quadrilateral

Rectangle:

  • If all angles of a quadrilateral are right angles ,it is called a rectangle.
  • Opposite sides of a rectangle are congruent.
  • Diagonals of a rectangle are congruent .
  • Diagonals of a rectangle bisect each other.
