The side of a square are increased by 10% to make a larger square. By what percent is the area increased?

Let's assume that initially length of the square's sides was 10m.

Hence the old area was 10x10= 100 m2.

Now, after 10% increment, the now length will be 10+1= 11m.

Hence, the new are will be 11x11= 121 m2.

So, now we can see the the area changed from 100 m2 to 121m2.

Thus, the percentage change (increase) in area is 21%=

(121-100)×100 ÷100.
