Given:

  • Side of a square is 10 cm.

To find:

  • Number of times the new perimeter will increase if  the side of the square is doubled.

Solution:

Original perimeter:

Side (s) = 10 cm

Perimeter of square = 4s

Perimeter of square = 4×10

\boxed {\sf {\red {Perimeter\ of\ square = 40\ cm}}}

New perimeter:

Side of the square is doubled.

Side = 10×2

Side = 20 cm

New perimeter of square = 4s

New perimeter of square = 4×20

\boxed {\sf {\pink {New\ perimeter\ of\ square = 80\ cm}}}

Now, number of times new perimeter has become when the side of the square is doubled:

\sf \dfrac{New\ Perimeter}{Original\ Perimeter}

\sf \dfrac{80}{40} = 2

Final answer:

New perimeter of the square will become 2 times more than the original perimeter, if the side is doubled.

Therefore, option a) 2 times is the correct answer.
