clearly the longest altitude is that drawn between 54cm and 61cm and let it be h cm on drawing altitude it is right angle to the side of 35cm and divide the line in x cm and 35-x cm now (35-x)2+h2=612 and x2+h2=542 on subtracting second from first (35-x)2-x2=612-542 1225-70x+x2-x2=2916 -70x=-420 x=6 cm substituing it in x2+h2=542 36+h2=542 h2=2880 h=53.665 -
