The sides AB and AC and the perimeter p1 of triangle ABC are respectively three times the corresponding sides DE and DF and the perimeter p2 of triangle DEF . Are two triangles similar? If yes, find ar(∆ABC)/ar(∆DEF).

Yes, the two triangles are similar .

linear scale factor = 3

therefore Area scale factor = 3² = 9

(Remember: area scale factor = linear scale factor ²)

= area(triangle ABC) /area ( triangle DEF)= 9

The area of ABC IS 9 square units and the area of DE is 1 square units..
