The percentage increase in total surface area and volume is 21% and 33.1% respectively.

  • The sides of the cube is 10 cm each.
  • Total surface area of the cube = 6 × 10² = 600 sq. cm
  • Volume of the cube = 10³ = 1000 cubic cm.
  • Now, the sides are increased by 1 cm, then the side of the cube is 11 cm.
  • Increased total surface area = 6 × 11² = 726 cm²
  • Increased volume of cube = 11³ = 1331 cu. cm
  • Now ,

Percentage increase in total surface area of the cube = \frac{726-600}{600} × 100

Percentage increase in total surface area  = 21%

  • And,

Percentage increase in volume of the cube = \frac{1331-1000}{1000} × 100

Percentage increase in volume  = 33.1%
