ratio of sides=3:5
let the sides be 3x and 5x
opposite side of parallelogram is always equal
perimeter = sum of all sides

480cm= 5x+3x+5x+3x
480cm=16x
480cm/16=x
30cm=x

therefore,
5x=5*30=150cm
3x=3*30=90cm

GIVEN:

  • The sides of a parallelogram are in the ratio 3:5
  • The perimeter of the parallelogram is 480cm.

TO FIND:

  • What is the length of the sides of a parallelogram ?

SOLUTION:

Let the one side of parallelogram be 3x and another side be 5x

We know that the formula for finding the perimeter of a parallelogram is :-

Perimeter of parallelogram = 2(Sum of length of adjacent sides)

According to question:-

\implies 480 = 2(3x + 5x)

\implies 480 = 2(8x)

\implies 480 = 16x

\implies 480/16 = x

\implies 30 = x

The value of x is 30

One side of parallelogram = 3x = 3(30) = 90 cm

Another side of parallelogram = 5x = 5(30) = 150 cm

❛ Since, opposite sides are equal therefore, the measure of two sides of parallelogram is 90 cm and another two sides is 150 cm. ❜

VERIFICATION:

➫ 2(90 + 150) = 480

➫ 2(240) = 480

➫ 480 = 480
