The sides of a rectangle are 12 cm and 16 cm. Find the length of its diagonal.​

Let the length of the diagonal be 'x'

Then:-

→ {x}^{2}  =  {(12)}^{2}  +  {(16)}^{2}

→ {x}^{2}  = 144 + 256

→  {x}^{2}  = 400

→ {x}  = 20

  • Hence the length of diagonal is 20cm.

a² + b² = c²

where a is lenght and b is breadth and c is diagonal.

ATQ.

12² + 16² = c²

c = square root (12² + 16² )

c = sq. root ( 144 + 256 )

c = sq. root ( 400 )

c = 20

Lenght of diagonal is 20 cm.
