Answer:

width = 2x

length = 3x

2x(3x) = 150

6x2 = 150

x2 = 25

x = ±5

Measurement is only positive.

Width is 10 in and length is 15 in

Given:-

  • Sides of a rectangular piece of paper are in the ratio 2:3
  • Area is 150cm²

To Find:-

  • the length of its sides

Solution:-

Let the length be 2x and breadth be 3x.

ATQ:-

➣ 2(l + b) = 150cm²

➣ 2(2x + 3x) = 150cm²

➣ 2(5x) = 150cm²

➣ 10x = 150cm²

➣ x = 150/10

➣ x = 15

Therefore,

  • Length = 2x = 2(15) = 30cm
  • Breadth = 3x = 3(15) = 45cm

Verification,

➣ 2(l + b)

➣ 2(30 + 45)

➣ 2(75)

➣ 150cm²

Hence Verified !
