Length of side of rhombus s = 10 cm. The side of the rhombus s is the hypotenuse of the right-angled triangle with half the lengths of the two diagonals d1 and d2 as the other two sides ie 10^2 = (16/2)^2 + (d2/2)^2 => 100 = 64 + (d2/2)^2 => (d2/2) = sqrt (100 - 64) = 6 => d2 = 12 cm. Area of rhombus A = (1/2)(d1)(d2) = (1/2)(16)(12) = 96 cm^2.
