Hey mate ,

Let the side of the square be x cm

Thus area = a^2 = x^2

If side is increased by 10 percent

thus increased side = x + 10%x

= x + 1/10 x

= 11/ 10 x

Thus area = (11/10 x )^ 2

= 121/100 x^2

= 1.21 x^2

percentage of area increased = 1.21x^2 - x^2 /x^2 × 100

= 0.21 ×100

= 21 %
