To Find:

Solution:

Area of triangle =

 \sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}

First, we need the value of "s"

So,

s =  \frac{a + b + c}{2}

 \implies  \frac{16 + 12 + 20}{2}

 \implies  \frac{ \cancel48}{ \cancel2}

 \implies 24

Area of ∆ =  \sqrt{24(24 - 16)(24 - 12)(24 - 20)}

 \implies  \sqrt{24(8)(12)(4)}

 \implies  \sqrt{24 \times 8 \times 12 \times 4}

 \implies \sqrt{2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3 \times 2 \times 2}

 \implies 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3

 \implies {96 \: cm}^{2}

Hence,

The area of a triangle is  {96 \: cm}^{2}
