the sum of sides of triangle is equal to the its perimeter.

$(x + 2)cm + (x - 1)cm + (x + 2) = 31$

$3x + 3 = 31$

$3x = 31 - 3$

$3x = 28$

$x = 28 \3$

put x in each side and find which side is shorter.
