the sides of rectalngle are 20 cm and 15 cm. if each side of the rectangle increased by 20% find the percentage increased in the area

Hey mate...

Here is your answer....

Perimeter of rect. = 2[l+b]

=2 [ 20 cm+15 cm]

= 2 X 35 cm

= 70 cm

Now,

According to question,

each side is increased by 20%

Then,

length = 20 + 20% of 20

           = 20 + 4

           = 24 cm

and,

breadth = 15 + 20% of 15

              = 15 + 3

              = 18

So, the new perimeter will be =

                                                       2[ 24 +18] cm

                                                    = 2 X 42 cm

                                                    = 84 cm

Hence, the perimeter of rect. is increased by 14 cm .

Percentage of increasing= 14/70 X 100

                                           = 20 %
